MICROBIRTH

PRENATAL CLASS

Are you expecting a baby?

Understanding the infant microbiome could be one of the most important decisions for your baby’s lifelong health.

In this MICROBIRTH Prenatal Class, you’ll learn how simple choices during pregnancy, birth, and the first few months can influence this crucial foundation.

Whether you’re planning a natural birth, C-section, or breastfeeding, we provide practical, science-backed strategies to nurture your baby’s microbiome from day one.

Equip yourself with the knowledge to give your baby the healthiest start possible. Investing in their microbiome now sets the stage for a lifetime of wellness.

Why Should You Take This Class?

Imagine you’re holding your newborn for the first time—tiny, fragile, and full of potential. But what if I told you that, at that very moment, an invisible world is already shaping their future health?

From the moment of birth, your baby’s body is being colonized by trillions of bacteria, viruses, and fungi—collectively known as the infant microbiome. It is made up of trillions of beneficial bacteria, shapes everything from your newborn’s immune system to their digestion and even brain development. A balanced microbiome can reduce the risk of allergies, asthma, colic, and even obesity later in life.

This microbiome, though unseen, is a crucial part of their development. It helps digest their first meals, trains their immune system, and even communicates with their brain.

But here’s the catch: the balance of this microbiome can be disrupted by factors beyond your control—C-section delivery, antibiotics, or even how your baby is fed.

These disruptions can increase your child’s risk of allergies, asthma, and digestive issues later in life. Understanding and nurturing this microbiome from the start is key.  The question is, are you ready to make the best choices for your baby’s health?

I’m sure you’re saying “YES, OF COURSE, I WANT TO LEARN MORE, but I’m already taking a few prenatal classes. Isn’t that good enough?” Unfortunately, you’re not likely to learn about any of these things in most of the traditional prenatal classes (unless you’re taking my Prenatal Breastfeeding course which covers a little bit).

MICROBIRTH Prenatal Classes Are Different Because…

Lack of Deep Knowledge: Many childbirth educators and doulas may have surface-level understanding of the infant microbiome but lack a deeper grasp of the science behind it, making it difficult to educate parents effectively.

Complexity of Information: The infant microbiome involves complex biological and scientific concepts, which can be challenging to simplify for expectant parents without losing essential details.

Inconsistent Research Findings: Rapidly evolving research on the microbiome means that childbirth educators and doulas may struggle to stay up-to-date, leading to conflicting advice or outdated information.

Limited Training Resources: There are few comprehensive, easy-to-access training programs specifically focused on the infant microbiome for childbirth professionals.

Integrating with Birth Plans: Understanding how different birth interventions (C-sections, antibiotics, etc.) impact the microbiome is complex, and educators may not know how to incorporate this into personalized birth plans.

Lack of Confidence: Without formal microbiome education, many doulas and childbirth educators may feel uncertain about giving advice on this important topic.

Communicating Risks and Benefits: Educators often struggle to effectively communicate the long-term health impacts of microbiome disruption without overwhelming or frightening parents.

Balancing Other Priorities: The microbiome is just one of many factors to consider in childbirth education, and it can be challenging to balance its importance with other key topics like labor techniques or breastfeeding.

Handling Misinformation: With the rise of misinformation online, educators must debunk myths or incorrect advice about the microbiome, which requires a solid understanding of the science.

Tailoring Advice for Different Birth Scenarios: Childbirth professionals may struggle to adapt microbiome advice for different birth circumstances, such as preterm births, planned C-sections, or medical interventions, each of which affects the microbiome differently.
